Athlone Town today announced the appointment of Frenchman Marc Fourmeaux as their new Director of first-team operations for 2017.
Fourmeaux, a French football agent, was previously General Manager at Lithuanian side DFK Dainava Alytus along with Italian businessman Giuseppe Greco. However, despite promising that the new regime would bring a blend of local and International talent, that makeover never materialised. They did manage to bring in Russian coach Sergei Aleinikovas, a former European Championships runner-up.
The club announced his appointment with a very short statement on their official Facebook page;
‘Athlone Town AFC would like to announce the appointment of Marc Fourmeaux as the Director Of Football Operations for the coming season.’
Colin Fortune’s men began the season with a surprise 1-0 win over first division promotion favourites Waterford in Lissywoollen last Friday night, and now head to Ferrycarrig Park to take on Damian Locke’s Wexford FC with a new sense of optimism.
