UCD went top of the League of Ireland First Division table after a 4-0 win over Shelbourne in Belfield. UCD boss Collie O’Neill was delighted with the win and how they played. He’s also thrilled with the talent at his disposal.
O’Neill said, “It was a good win for us but one we won’t be getting carried away with, Gary’s early goal was a piece of quality which gave us a great start to the game and we continued to control matters after that and never looked back.”
“I was pleased with how we controlled things after the half-time break, we knew they’d have a go for the second half but we were comfortable and the players stuck to doing the right things at the right time.”
“We made 7 changes to the starting 11 that competed against Cabinteely the previous week, even with all those changes our oldest player is still only 22.”
“We have great talent at this club.”
UCD will face a much sterner test than Shels, as they host Promotion favourites Waterford FC on Friday night in Belfield.
