“Confidence is growing” says Hendo

‘Kaka’ gives Cobh the lead from the spot against Shelbourne

Cobh Ramblers missed the chance to go top of the SSE Airtricity League First Division table on Saturday afternoon when they conceded a late goal to Shelbourne. They had earlier taken the lead from the penalty spot, thanks to their captain Christopher ‘Kaka’ McCarthy.

Added to the late concession to Wexford on opening day, Cobh have been denied the opportunity to have three wins from theee games. However, it has been an unbeaten start to the season for Stephen Henderson’s side, and he’s looking forward rather than back at those missed opportunities.

Henderson told us, “We were very frustrated conceding so late again. But there can be no blame apportioned as their goal was a complete fluke.”

“We have nothing but admiration for the way our entire squad are going about their work on and off the pitch.”

“We feel our performances to date merits 9 points from our opening 3 games but we can be happy with our unbeaten start against a team just down from the premier and 2 teams favourites to win the league.”

“Our confidence is growing week on week and the new lads in the squad have fitted in really well with more to come from them.”

“We genuinely work off the one game at a time theory so our focus now will be on Athlone town next week . They have proven themselves to be a very good side this year so we expect another test but one we will be ready for.”

He even took to Twitter to post up his comical reaction to the late goal on Saturday.
