Cabinteely’s Karl Byrene is our SSE Airtricity League First Division Player of the week after his performance in his sides 4-1 win over Cobh Ramblers.
Cobh, who had previously been unbeaten in the league this season, are strongly fancied to come away from Stradbrook with all three points.
However, Pat Devlin’s men, themselves on a 2-game winning streak, totally out-classed Seoehen Henderson’s men on the night.
Byrne was instrumental in everything that Cabinteely did on the night, and cemented his performance with the second goal. He pounced on an attempted clearance to soot into the far corner of Paul Hunt’s net.
It turned into a record-breaking night for the club, as the win saw the club win three league of Ireland fixtures in a row for the first time in their history.
Byrne also showed a nice touch of class after the game when he tweeted that he was going to dedicate his goal to Derry City captain Ryan McBride who tragically passed away last week.
