Limerick FC and Galway United drew 1-1 in their re-arranged U-19 league fixture yesterday in the University of Limerick.
Adam Foley had the hosts 1-0 up early on, before Cathal Carney equalised ten minutes later. That leaves Galway United unbeaten with two draws while Limerick picked up their furst point of the season.
Galway United manager Nigel Keady was very happy to get a share of the spoils after the game saying, “Limerick would be disappointed not to have taken 3 points from the game. They created chances during the second half and we rode our luck at times.”
“In saying that following their early goal we reacted well, scoring through Cathal Carney and started to be more positive in our play.”
“The second half was difficult for us, in particular our defence but the players deserve credit for their application and willingness to support each other.”
“We have now given game time to 20 players in our 2 games and remain unbeaten.”
Keady was also quick to add, “I would like to wish Limerick’s Edmond O’Dwyer the best of luck in his recovery after sustained a serious injury during the match.”
Limerick FC manager Tommy Barrett told us, “We dominated the game but unfortunately had poor finishing. Galway had one chance and scored.”
“To be fair to them they were missing some of their better defenders. Adam Foley scored, again (he should’ve had a hat trick), while centre-back Barry Cotter was our stand-out player on the pitch and Will Fitzgerald was good also.”
