Cobh Ramblers goalscorer Charlie Fleming spoke to us after the 2-0 win over Longford Town. He’s delighted with the win, and feels Cobh can win the First Division and get promoted to the Premier Division for 2018.
Fleming said, “Obviously delighted with the win. I don’t think we played anywhere near what we can play, but we got the three points and that’s all that matters.”
“We need to get a good run going because I think consistency will win this league and we don’t fear anyone.”
After-match interview with Cobh manager Stephen Henderson, “We didn’t expect Charlie Fleming to come up with a bit of composure, but what a goal it was from Charlie.”
On his time at Cobh, and working under Stephen Henderson Fleming said, “I’m really enjoying my time at Cobh, just looking to learn and keep improving all the time.”
“Hendo has brought me on great strides as a player and I think he’s starting to get everyone in the squad to believe that we can win this league.”
Fleming also spoke about his goal, Matty (Whelan) was holding the ball up well all game so I knew I could get forward and play off him. I saw a gap and went one on one with the keeper, he was out fast so I just had to put the ball over him and lucky it went in.”
