First Division Player of the Week – Enda Curran (Longford Town)

Hat-trick hero Enda Curran

Longfird Town striker Enda Curran is our SSE Airtricity League First Division Player of the week after a hat-trick performance in the club’s 3-1 win over Athlone Town on Saturday night.

Curran only came off the bench in the tenth minute to replace David O’Sullivan. It was a great result in the midlands version of ‘El Classico’.

Enda was very quick to give praise to his fellow team-mates. He said “Any time you get a hat trick it’s always a special feeling. Everyone of the lads worked like dogs to make sure we got the result we needed.”

Talking about the goals Curran said, “The first goal was just instinct but Don (Cowan) deserves lots of credit. And the free kick was just a case of hitting the target and see what happens and luckily is crept in. The third goal was a more difficult finish, but I done enough to chip the keeper and manage to keep it under the bar. I’m very happy with all three goals.”
