Shamrock Rovers made it into the semi-finals of this season’s EA sports Cup after a 1-0 win over Longford Town tonight in Tallaght Stadium. We managed to catch up with the goalscorer, 17 year-old Dean Dillon after the game.
“Obviously we’re all delighted to win the game and get into the semi final as we want to win every trophy we can,” said Dillon.
“I had a lot of chances in the game which I should have scored, but luckily Brandon (Miele) played me in a great pass and I scored.”
The young striker also spoke about his time with the Republic of Ireland Under 18 side last week, “Yeah, last week I was over in Slovakia to play in the Slovakia Cup for Ireland. This was my first call up to the team, so I was very happy.”
“I was delighted to be involved in all the games over there and we finished 4th in an 8-team tournament so we were very happy. The week was topped off when I received my first cap which is always an honour.”
