Lyttle “We need to learn how to manage games better.”

Sligo manager Gerard Lyttle

New Sligo Rovers manager Gerard Lyttle was extremely disappointed after his side were knocked out of the EA Sports Cup by Galway United at the quarter-final stage. The Bitored face a home fixture with Limerick FC on Saturday evening as Lyttle looks for his first win since taking over from Dave Robertson.

He felt they dominated the game on Monday, and should have went in to close the game out when they went in front.

Lyttle told us, “We’re obviously very disappointed. The game should’ve been out of sight in the first half.”

“We had a disallowed goal for offside, which was a poor decision after watching it over. Also hit the bar and had over 15 corners, so you could say we dominated the game but got nothing for it.”

However he wants his side to keep learning and the wins will come saying, “The boys will need to keep working hard and keep believing that the win will come. We also need to learn how to manage games better.”
