Derry City won their first match since the passing of their club captain Ryan McBride, after beating Bohemians 2-0 at Maginn Park.
A goal in either half from Dean Jarvis and an Aaron McEneff penalty kept up the momentum they’ve built up over the past three games, in which they drew them all.
Assistant Manager Hugh Harkin was pleased with the win, but also thinks they can improve even further in the weeks ahead.
Harkin said, “It was definitely good to get back to winning again. It was a decent performance but we know we can even get better. We have been unlucky in recent weeks where we’ve created a lot of chances and failed to score, only to be hit with a sucker punch.”
“We did a lot of work showing the players footage of how we played in the first four games, and how to play when we lose possession, so we took this into Fridays game.”
“It was good that we got back to basics and produced a winning performance against Bohs.”
“We have a busy schedule ahead with 7 games in the next month or so, therefore we have to work even harder and hopefully stay injury free.”
