Derby bragging rights at stake in Ferrycarrig Park

Wexford FC host table-toppers Waterford FC in Ferrycarrig Park on Friday evening in a local derby, as the hosts still await their first League game of the season.

The last time The Blues were in town, they left with a place in the second round of the EA Sports Cup after hitting the Wexford net five times without reply.

That match was Wexford’s heaviest defeat of the season, and they will be hoping there wont be a repeat of that scoreline this time around. Although still without a win, they have not conceded more than two goals in a league game.

Talking to the Wexford FC media team this week, manager Damian Locke was left to rue the missed chances his team had in UCD last week, “We had our chances but we failed to take them. We all know we need to be more ruthless.”

Talking about Friday’s visit of Waterford, Locke said, “We’re looking forward to Friday’s game. Everything to date goes out of the window for the derby game. We know we have nothing to lose, all of the pressure is on Waterford, and there would be no better game to get our first win”.

Wexford welcome back defender Craig McCabe who missed the trip to UCD through suspension, but Craig Wall will once again miss out with a shoulder injury. Sean Hurley should be ok after hobbling off last week with a leg injury.

Kick off in Ferrycarrig Park is set for 8:00pm
