“Energy and desire can help us to victory” says Kenny

Dundalk are thankful for their home comforts tonight as they face a rejuvenated Sligo Rovers under new manager Gerard Lyttle at Oriel Park.

After two away defeats on the bounce, to Galway United and Shamrock Rovers, Stephen Kenny is glad to be back on home territory.

Speaking on dundalkfc.com manager Stephen Kenny said, “Our home performances have been very good this year. We have performed at a high level at Oriel Park and we have been very good here. We have to get back to that level of performance against Sligo Rovers on Friday night.”

“Our performance was disappointing overall against Shamrock Rovers, and we have to have that energy and the desire to go out and put in another good display here. We want to go and get the victory, to return to winning ways on Friday night.”

Goalkeeper Gary Rogers said, “It’s a massive challenge for us. Things haven’t gone the way that we wanted them to but we know that we have a lot of quality in the group. We aren’t performing as well as we can and there’s a lot more in us.”

“There’s a lot of good players in the squad and we need to show the talent that we have. We need to improve our performances and the sooner we do that the results will get better.”

“Our results haven’t been what we wanted and we have been unlucky at times but we aren’t making excuses. We need to get winning matches and we have to start with the next one against Sligo Rovers. It’s going to be a difficult game but we know that we need to win the three points.”

“Our home form has been good so far and it’s good to play at Oriel Park. We can’t look any further ahead than that.”
