Cabinteely thrashed Shelbourne by 4 goals to one at Tolka Park last night, as Pat Devlin’s men moved into fourth place in the First Division table. The win, their first ever over Shelbourne, put Cabinteely on 20 points which equals their points tally in the whole of 2015. One more point and it will be a record for the club.
Cabinteely had four different scorers on the night. Joe Doyle opened the scoring after ten minutes, only for James English to equalise five minutes later.
Conor Keeney put Cabo back in front with a header from a free-kick on 25 minutes, before second half strikes from Corey Galvin and Christian Lotefa secured a wonderful win.
Lotefa’s goal was his first for the club. He played a wonderful one-two with Kieran Marty Waters and calmly slotted it past Dean Delaney in the Shelbourne goal.
Lotefa was delighted afterwards telling theleagueofireland.com “This is definitely a night to remember for me, as you never forget your first goal at a professional level.”
“I am very pleased to be able to add something positive to the squad and I hope it continues this way please god.”
On the influence of Pat Devlin to his game Lotefa said, “The gaffer has been nothing but a positive help to my overall game, and with the dept of our squad and the experience we now have it’s amazing for everyone. We as a squad keep on improving on and off the pitch.”
He was also full of praise for all the coaching staff at the club, “I couldn’t do everything on my own, this is an appreciation to the whole squad and the back room staff who put in nothing but 110% week and week out.”
