Players sign for football clubs all over the world on an almost daily basis, but not many sign for the club they’ve supported all their life. However that’s exactly what happened to 24 year-old striker Stephen Donnelly when he penned a deal to join Bohemians this week.
Stephen spoke to theleagueofireland.com about linking up with Keith Long’s side, “It means a lot to me joining Bohemians. It’s the club i’ve supported since I was a kid. I worked very hard over the last year to try make it into the league of Ireland, and it paid off. However, for me the hard work starts now. I can’t wait to put on that jersey, it will be a dream come true.”
The striker scored a whopping 25 goals in the AUL for Usher Celtic, and he’s hoping he can bring some of that goalscoring touch to the Gypsies.
He had a few options from other League if Ireland clubs, and some club in Northern Ireland, but it was only ever going to be Bohs and Dalymount Park.
