Shamrock Rovers striker Graham Burke has today issued an apology to the club’s supporters after his second sending off of the season in Rovers 1-1 draw with St Patrick’s Athletic.
The red-card will see him miss another three games, in what will be a vital stage of the Hoops season.
However, the question that needs to be asked is why it’s taken almost two weeks to issue the apology? Surely it’s something that should have been done last week? Yes, players were on their summer break but it still should have been done.
The club issued the apology through a press release earlier today. Here is Burke’s statement;
“I apologise for my actions in the last game (against St Pats), after scoring the opening goal of the game what happened after that was a stupid thing to do.”
“It was a tight game, a Dublin derby and I just became frustrated. I know that I let everyone down –my teammates, the management and the fans and I can only apologise.”
“Frustration got the better of me and I know that I have to deal with that. It was a stupid thing to do.”
