
For the second successive week Cork City striker Seani Maguire is theleagueofireland.com SSE Airtricity League Premier Division Player of the Week. His 2-goal salvo in a 4-1 win over Munster rivals Limerick on Friday night kept their lead over second-placed Dundalk at 18 points.
Any fears City fans had that their star-man would take it easy after his move to Championship club Preston North End was confirmed, were laid to rest after five goals in his last two games.
His first goal against Limerick was a superbly guided header past Brendan Clarke, following a beautiful cross down the right-hand side from Karl Sheppard.

While his second was a real poachers goal. Just 16 seconds into the second half, and defender Robbie Williams tried a delicate flick back to keeper Clarke only for Maguire to pounce and slip it past the advancing goalkeeper. That goal killed off the game as a contest, and Jimmy Keohane completed the scoring late on with a sublime finish.

Other notable performances over the weekend were Dundalk pair David McMillan and Ciaran Kilduff each scoring twice,as they beat 10-man Drogheda United 6-0 at United Park.
