Cobh Ramblers secured their spot in the draw for the quarter-finals of the Enda McGuill Cup after a 3-1 win over Waterford.
Two long range efforts from Dave Hurley and Peter Callahan, from 25 and 30 yards, plus an own goal gave Declan Coleman’s young rams the win.
There was a debutant for Cobh in the game with Stephen O’Connor coming into the defence while Cameron Harlson made his first U-19 start.
Coleman said, “Yeah it was a nice victory. A good performance to get us back to winning ways after last week.”
“We went down 1-0 early on but reacted positively and equalised with a fortunate own goal but I think we were the better team in the remainder of the first half.”
“We discussed a few things at half time which we felt could give us a better chance of winning the game and in fairness to the lads they performed brilliantly in the second half.”
“And there were two more fantastic goals to round it off. But yeah, overall it’s good for the confidence after the dent we took last week.”
