Wexford goalkeeper Corey Chambers lines out for the club for the final time tonight against Cobh Ramblers, before starting his adventure in the USA.
The ex Bray Wanderers and Waterford shot-stopper has made 14 first team appearances this season, and has been in sparkling form since taking over from the injured, and later retired, Graham Doyle.
There would be no better going away present for Corey than a clean sheet against 3rd place Ramblers. Corey told Wexfordfc.com “Obviously it’s going to be a tough game for us. But as always, we go in to every game with the belief that we can take all three points.”
Talking on his own personal situation, Corey added, “I’ve really enjoyed my time here with the club. It’s been a pleasure to be around the place. Everyone, coaches, playing staff and supporters have been really good to me, and I will no doubt miss being here. I would love to have finished out the season, but this opportunity was too good to turn down. I wish Damian and the lads the best of luck for the remainder of the season and what better send off than 3 points”.

Manager Damian Locke was full of praise for the outgoing net minder. “Corey has been a pleasure to work with throughout my time in Wexford. He’s been an example to others both on, and off the pitch. I want to wish him all the best for the future. We all know that he will go on to be a top glass goalkeeper”.
Wexford FC are yet to record a win over their Munster counterparts. A 1-1 draw on the opening day of the season, when a late Lee Duffy equaliser rescued a point, is all Wexford FC have to show for their efforts in 3 meetings.
Both squads will be stretched going in to the match as Cobh have lost players this week due to educational committments, while Wexford are dealing with a number of injuries.
Only this week Conor Sutton picked up a hamstring injury that will rule him out for the near future. This is in addition to the already injured Sean Hurley and club captain Craig McCabe (who both expect to resume full training in the coming week). Adam Hanlon is a long term absentee along with Aaron O’Connor who picked up an ankle injury whilst training.
Good news for the home team is that Ricky Fox is once again available after serving a four game ban after being sent off in the 1-0 win away to Cabinteely.
