The draw for the third round of the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Cup (Challenge Cup) was made earlier today, which included two league of Ireland representatives in Bohemians and Waterford FC.
Bohemians reached the semi-finals of the same competition last season, only to withdraw due to scheduling issues after their semi-final fell foul to the weather. They’ve been handed an away trip to Scottish League One side Airdrieonians, who are managed by former Hibernians stalwart Ian Murray.
Waterford FC were given a home draw against Hearts U-21’s, a game which could feature former St Patrick’s Athletic youngster Aidan Keena. Keena scored in their 3-1 win over Cowdenbeath in the previous round, having earlier missed a penalty.
The Wee Jambo’s as they’re known, are managed by 40 year-old Andy Kirk from Belfast. He was Interim manager of Hearts in December of 2016, alongside former Ireland youth International Jon Daly, following the departure of former player Robbie Neilson.
