Wexford FC have today appointed a successor to Damian Locke, with the announcement that Waterford native Brian O’Sullivan will take up the manager’s position at the club. He will be assisted by the clubs former player David Breen.
O’Sullivan has coached with a number of successful Leinster Senior League clubs, holding positions of Senior Coach and Senior Team Manager at clubs such as Tramore AFC, Malahide United, Leixlip United and Bluebell United.
According to the club Brian has a great technical knowledge of the game and will bring a high level of drive and energy to the role. He has a very strong track record in developing young players.
First-team coach David Breen has played League of Ireland football for 17 years, including captaining Wexford Youths during a distinguished few seasons with the club. Since hanging up his boots David has coached with Wexford Youths and Waterford United League of Ireland teams, as well as Waterford FC Under 19’s.
In the past two seasons Wexford have won just 8 games, four in each season, as they played with a team full of young talent. Getting that talent to be more consistent over the season is a massive challenge, but on the new manager is relishing. He said, “I am delighted to be appointed as the new manager of Wexford FC. Over time I hope I can pay the club back for showing faith in me. I cant wait to get going and meet everyone. I am particularly looking forward to meeting the players.”
“There’s no doubt David Breen and myself can work well together and bring this club forward and become more competitive on the pitch. We are both looking forward to working in the great facilities that the club have in place. Hopefully we can give the loyal fans a good brand of football to watch for the coming season.”
